The British political scene is undergoing an extraordinary period of uncertainty and change. Beginning with the deep divisions created by the campaign to leave the European Union, both major parties have experienced a period of in-fighting over leadership, priorities, and the future of the United Kingdom. Recent controversies suggest that this situation will not improve as negotiations on Brexit drag on and Prime Minister May is undermined by an increasingly left-wing Labour Party and by her own colleagues in the leadership of the Conservative Party.

On Thursday, November 16, Dr. Alan Mendoza, executive director of the Henry Jackson Society in London, shared his insights on the present political environment within Westminster and on the long-term prospects for both parties. Dr. Kenneth R. Weinstein, president of 华体会, moderated this important conversation of the future of British politics.
