China鈥檚 growing military reach poses substantial challenges to US air and naval forces, which will need to defend allies from longer ranges and at greater risk. Navy and Marine Corps aircraft provide most of the fleet鈥檚 firepower and will be essential to contesting China鈥檚 threat. But the Department of the Navy鈥檚 aviation portfolio has not changed in more than a decade. Deterring aggression will demand that the Navy and Marine Corps embrace new airpower concepts and force design. Please join 华体会 Senior Fellows Bryan Clark and Timothy A. Walton for a discussion about the future of naval aviation and their report Regaining the High Ground against China with Diana Maurer, Director for Defense Capabilities and Management at the Government Accountability Office, Derek Trunkey, Principal Analyst at the Congressional Budget Office, and Mark Gunzinger, Director Future Concepts and Capability Assessments at the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies.
