Semiconductors constitute the world’s most important technology, empowering every sector of the economy. But integrated circuits also rely on what could be the most fraught supply chain of any prominent contemporary technology. With more than half of all semiconductors and nearly all high-end chips coming from Taiwan or South Korea, disruptions are likely and can have devastating economic consequences.
