Elina Valtonen

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Finland

The United States鈥揊inland relationship has grown closer than ever, and developments in the transatlantic community have shown that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization鈥檚 importance is greater now than it has been in decades. Additionally, Russia鈥檚 large-scale invasion of Ukraine shows no sign of letting up as some Americans question continued military aid to Kyiv.

Next year, NATO will hold its historic seventy-fifth anniversary summit in Washington, DC. As NATO鈥檚 newest member, Finland plays a critical role in transatlantic security.

Join Hudson as we host Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen on her inaugural visit to Washington. Valtonen will deliver a speech on the importance of transatlantic ties, the need to support Ukraine, and the future of the relationship between the United States and Finland.

Following her remarks, she will sit down for a conversation with Senior Fellow Luke Coffey.
