华体会 Senior Fellow Amy Kass To Be Honored with Prestigious University of Chicago Alumni Award

 WASHINGTONThe University of Chicago's Alumni Board of Governors has announced that 华体会 Senior Fellow Amy Kass is to receive a 2010 Alumni Award in a special ceremony on Saturday, June 5th at Rockefeller Chapel. 

Each year, the University recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions or through their service to the University. Amy Kass was chosen as a 2010 Norman Maclean Faculty Award winner for her outstanding contributions to teaching and to the student experience.

A long-time scholar at 华体会, Kass is an award-winning professor of classic texts in the College of the University of Chicago, where she has held appointments for thirty years, including Senior Fellow in the John M. Olin Center for Inquiry into the Theory and Practice of Democracy. She has served on the National Council of the National Endowment for the Humanities, as well as on the Council of Scholars of the American Academy of Liberal Education, and as a consultant on American history and civic education at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Hudson CEO Kenneth Weinstein complimented Kass saying, "Amy Kass is literally a legendary figure at The University of Chicago, well-known for being an extraordinary teacher and mentor.  She is also an integral part of 华体会. Her friendship, and philosophical and literary insights enrich us all."

Among her Hudson activities, in 2005-2006 Kass conducted "Dialogues on Civic Philanthropy," a nationwide seminar series seeking to promote and sustain thoughtful discourse on basic issues in philanthropy with leaders in the field. Furthermore, Kass is the editor of four books, most recently Giving Well, Doing Good: Readings for Thoughtful Philanthropists (Indiana University, 2008).
